However, during the recession, airline operators are trying to fill their seats and they're willing to slash their prices to never-before-seen lows to do so. For instance, this month, Airtran, Southwest and American Airlines have offered one-way flights as low as $25 (on distances less than 375 miles) and $50 (for flights up to 549 miles)! Indeed, there are certain countries offering lower fares to entice foreign dollars their way as well. Last minute jet setters can always find a cheap travel deal if they know where to look! Here are some of the top deals currently floating around.

Budget Travel Magazine is offering reader codes that provide cheap hotels and flights for Jamaica. Your week-long vacation will include airfare, breakfast and seven nights in a one-bedroom suite at Serenity Villa in Ochos Rios, Jamaica starting as low as $661. You'll have plenty of sun, sand, golf and marine activities. To get this deal, you must travel from November 1 through to December 21, January 8 to February 18 and February 27-28. Travelers must take their overseas trip from November 2 to March 28 and book at least seven days in advance. The discount airline deals do not include December 21-23 and you can only depart on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Sample round-trip flights from Las Vegas include trips to London ($498), Athens ($538), Madrid ($538), Milan ($538), Paris ($538) and Rome ($538).

Delta Airlines is offering inexpensive flights to European destinations for as little as $239 each way. This compares to British Airways flights that sell the same routes for $395 each way. If you've ever dreamt of looking at ancient ruins in Athens, the famous canals of Venice or bull fights in Spain, then you will be thrilled with some of these cheap airline tickets from New York City's JFK airport. Travel is valid now until March 2010, with a few blackout days around the holidays. You can depart from JFK to Athens ($299), Barcelona ($239), Istanbul ($279), Madrid ($239), Rome ($329) or Venice ($329). You will need to book by mid-November and tack on taxes and fees for these special offers.
